Welcome to our Department of Gynecology!

 As Director of the Department of Gynecology, Charité, Campus Virchow Clinic, I welcome you with my staff on our homepage.

I am glad that you are showing interest in our clinic and would like to present our particular service portfolio.

Primary goal of all staff members of our clinic is to render highest accomplishments in the areas of health care and medical research for the benefit of the patients. Our range of services embraces the diagnosis, surgical and medical treatment as well as the follow-up.

In doing so, we are always guided by the state-of-the-art and most innovative medical knowledge. For years we have been focussing both scientifically and clinically on the following five key aspects of gynecology:

  • Ovarian cancer, tubal cancer and peritoneal cancer, cervical cancer, uterine cancer and vulvar cancer
  • Breast cancer, treatment, reconstructive surgery, breast augmentation as well as breast reduction plasty
  • Treatment of benign women’s diseases, e. g. myomas (benign neoplasms of the uterus), ovarian cysts, bleeding disorders
  • Treatment of urinary incontinence and descensus (descensus of the bladder, vagina and uterus), TVT mesh and plastic surgery
  • Pediatric gynecology including the surgical treatment of congenital malformations, e. g. neovagina surgery (vaginoplasty)

In our clinic all advanced and classical surgical techniques are competently applied. To these belong beside the minimal invasive surgery (“keyhole surgery”) also vaginal and open surgical techniques as well as so-called flap plasties and laser operations.

As special service we offer an exclusive consultation-hour for the obtaining of a second opinion. We have also established a gratis tumor conference for you, in which your personal disease situation is systematically and explicitly discussed with the different experts of Charité. Medical colleagues have the opportunity to present patients in our Online-Tumor Conference (www.online-tumorkonferenz.de).

As patient of our clinic, you obtain help in the diagnosis and treatment of your disease. In close collaboration with the specialists of other clinical fields, e. g. internal medicine (cardiology, nephrology, haemato-/oncology and psychosomatics), surgery, pathology, laboratory medicine and genetics, we can obtain optimal results for you, also in very complicated and difficult clinical pictures.

In order to ensure the integrated and individual approach in the treatment, we have furthermore integrated different offers as permanent feature of our Department of Gynecology in support of the patients. To these belong amongst others:

  • Psychooncological care of cancer patients
  • Art and drawing therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Nutrition counselling
  • Social medical service
  • Support group for cancer patients
  • Oncological patients’ seminar
  • Ovarian Cancer Foundation
